Math - A Math Home Link or Math Boxes page will be assigned daily.
These should be completed and returned to school the next day so we can review
them in class.
Nightly Reading - Your child is required to read at least 20 minutes a night. Each night your child should record the title of the book they read, along with the number of minutes they read and parent initials. This nightly reading log can be found on the back of your child's Homework Sheet.
Grammar/Spelling - Each night your child will have either a
grammar, spelling or both a grammar and spelling worksheet
from their Journey's Reader Notebook which they will tear out
in class. Please make sure your child returns these worksheets, as we will be going over the page(s) the following school day.
GRADING
Most homework will be either graded with a star for all correct or either a check, check plus or check minus.
Star or Check Plus = great work
Check = some errors
Check Minus = numerous errors
Please Fix = if you see this on your child's paper, please have them fix the mistakes on his/her paper and bring to school the next day
Most classwork will have either a percentage or a fraction on the paper. For example, if there are 5 problems on a page, and a child gets all 5 problems correct there will be a 100% on the paper or a 5/5. If you see a 3/5 on the paper, that is equivalent to a 60% and so on.
